Welcome to the Live Your Design Substack
I am so excited that you’re here! Think of this Substack as a safe space for you to learn about and experiment with your human design. Whether you’re brand new to this system or several years into your deconditioning journey, I know you’ll find something to support you.
Let’s experiment together!
No matter how well you understand your human design in theory, the real magic happens when you start to embody your chart in your everyday life.
But this is where many of us get stuck… What does it mean to “respond” as a generator? What is the difference between splenic and emotional intuition? How do I avoid getting burned out as a projector? How do I inform effectively as a manifestor? What type of breakfast is most nourishing for my system? How do I have hard conversations with an undefined throat?
I plan to use this Substack as a place to bridge the gap between education and embodiment by sharing my personal experiments and delivering practical insights and strategies to help you work, love, parent and live by design.
Think of me as a translator who is here to help you make sense of your human design chart and apply this knowledge to find more ease, fulfillment and joy in your everyday life.

Where to start?
If you’re new to human design, I recommend starting with one of the following posts:
Who am I?
I’m Alexandra! The short version is that I’m a 5/1 emotional generator with three left-facing variable arrows.
But if you want the longer version, keep reading…
If you would have told me a decade ago that I would one day refer to myself as a “human design coach”, I would have laughed in your face.
At the time, I was working 16-hour days as a management consultant in New York City. On paper, it sounded impressive; in reality, I was miserable.
Thankfully, I was given a “get-out-of-jail-free-card” in the form of a friend who asked me to start a business with her. We had no track record, no investors, and no clients. It was a big gamble, but something in my gut told me to go for it. And I’m so glad I did. We built a seven-figure business working with Fortune 500 brands such as Campbell Soup Company, Walt Disney, Morgan Stanley, and AARP.
This experience taught me that my definition of success had nothing to do with an impressive job title or a corner office. What mattered most to me was applying my gifts in a way that had a meaningful impact on others, while having the freedom to dedicate time to the things that bring me joy.
It may sound obvious, but this was a major “aha” at the time. I finally gave myself permission to let go of what I should do or be and pursue what I truly wanted instead. And once I had a taste of the good life, I wanted everyone to experience it. So, I wrote a “playbook” for purpose: a step-by-step guide for helping others design more meaningful lives, careers, and relationships.
When I discovered human design, it felt like the missing puzzle piece. Somehow, I knew I was meant to share this system with the world and put my own spin on it.
I will admit, as a former consultant, I’m naturally skeptical of anything considered “woo”— and human design is the poster child of "woo"— but once again, I trusted my gut…
I completed my reader training with Jenna Zoe and launched my business in 2020. I had my son a year later and launched Thriving by Design, a collection of personalized reports, cheat sheets, and online courses designed to help individuals, couples, and families thrive with the help of human design.
Outside of my professional pursuits, I’m happiest when moving my body, eating good food, reading smut (and my favorite Substacks!) at a coffee shop, exploring new places, and spending quality time going deep with my favorite people.
I was born in the United Kingdom, raised in The Netherlands, and after brief stints in Princeton, New York City and San Francisco, I am currently adulting in Santa Barbara, California with my husband and two kids.
