Your Year-End Review: A Guided Reflection Exercise To Close This Chapter & Set The Stage for the Next
Reflection prompts inspired by your energy type, profile, and G-center
I love this time of year. It feels like a collective pause.
You’re not quite sure what time or day it is. Life slows down enough to give everyone a much-needed opportunity to catch our breath. To tie up loose ends. To ground. To connect. To reset.
So before we charge into 2025 and feel the inescapable pressure to (re)focus our attention on what lies ahead, I invite you to take a moment to look back.
To reflect on where you’ve been this year and what you’ve learned. To celebrate the wins and commemorate the losses. To check in with your emotions, your gut, your heart, and ultimately, your soul — how are you really doing and what do you really need?
To help you do so, I’ve prepared a few journal prompts based on various chart elements. (If you don’t have you chart, you can find it here). Over the coming days, I encourage you to respond or meditate on the questions that apply to you. Try setting a timer for at least 5 minutes for each prompt to ensure that you move beyond the surface thoughts and tap into the deeper well of self knowledge.
Life operates in cycles. And I truly believe that how you close one cycle determines the possibilities that await you in the next. So, let’s take a moment to give 2024 the soulful send-off it deserves.
Reflection questions based on your energy type
Your energy type reflects the underlying mechanics of your energy: how you invest energy in order to get the greatest return on that investment. Your ability to live out your purpose and experience fulfillment depends on whether you’re operating in alignment with your natural energetic rhythms or not.
Generators:
What or who brought you the most joy this year? How might you be more intentional about investing more time & energy in them next year?
What boundary are you most proud of yourself for setting this year?
In what area of your life do you feel the most satisfied right now? What is the biggest contributor to this sense of satisfaction?
What or who is most frustrating to you right now? How might you be (consciously or unconsciously) contributing to the situation? What do you need to let go of, or what boundary do you need to set in order to change this?
What are you most excited about when it comes to 2025?
Projectors:
What was the best invitation or recognition you received this past year? How might you find more ways to showcase these particular gifts in 2025?
Where are you pushing yourself beyond your energetic capacity? What are some smarter ways to approach it so you might do less and achieve the same outcome?
Where do you feel the most successful in life right now?
What or who are you most resentful of right now? How might you be (consciously or unconsciously) contributing to the situation? What do you need to let go of, or what boundary do you need to set in order to change this?
How did your definition of success change or shift this year?
Manifesting Generators:
What or who brought you the most joy this year? How might you be more intentional about investing more time & energy in them next year?
What norm/convention/”should” are you most proud of yourself for challenging this year?
In what area of your life do you feel the most satisfied right now?
What or who is most frustrating to you right now? How might you be (consciously or unconsciously) contributing to the situation? What do you need to let go of, or what boundary do you need to set in order to change this?
What are you most excited about when it comes to 2025?
Manifestors:
What did you initiate or start this year that you’re most proud of?
Where are you pushing yourself beyond your energetic capacity? How might you honor what your body needs more next year?
Where do you feel the most at peace and free right now?
Where do you feel the least at peace and free right? How might you be (consciously or unconsciously) contributing to the situation? What do you need to let go of to move forward?
Where are you still holding back or playing small because you’re afraid of what others might think/do/say?
What’s the worst thing that could happen if you stopped doing that?
What’s the best thing that could happen if you stopped doing that?
Is it worth the trade-off?
Reflectors:
What surprised you most this past year?
What tools, practices, environments or people allowed you to feel most connected to — and present in — your body?
What environments and people made you feel most supported, seen, and at ease this year? How might you seek out more of these spaces and communities next year?
What or who are you most disappointed by right now? What do you need to let go of, or what boundary do you need to set in order to change this?
Where are you pushing yourself beyond your energetic capacity? How might you honor what your body needs more next year?
Reflection questions based on your profile
Every profile consists of two lines. If your profile is a 5/1, you’ll respond to the prompts for the 5-line and the 1-line, for example.
1-lines: What did you learn about yourself or the world this year?
2-lines: What did you become more confident in this year?
3-lines: What risk(s) did you take this year and how did it play out?
4-lines: What relationship(s) did you get the most out of this year?
5-lines: What was the most challenging part of this year?
6-lines: What did you learn to view differently this year?
Reflection questions based on the defined gates in your G-center you
The g-center is the diamond-shaped center in the middle of your human design chart. It rules identity, values, and direction in life. When a g-center gate is defined (aka colored in or “activated”) in your chart, it offers insight into the thing(s) that will help you find your way back to yourself and your purpose.
If Gate 10 is defined: What part of your life did you fall even deeper in love with this year?
If Gate 15 is defined: What ugly, shameful, or uncomfortable part of yourself did you learn to accept and embrace this year?
If Gate 2 is defined: What did you surrender to and how did it feel?
If Gate 46 is defined: How did you invest in your body this year?
If Gate 25 is defined: What or who shocked/surprised/enamored you the most this year?
If Gate 13 is defined: What was the most memorable conversation you had this year and how did it change your perspective?
If Gate 1 is defined: What “firsts” did you experience this year and what did it shift in you?
If Gate 7 is defined: Who invited you to guide or lead them this year and how did it feel?
If none are defined:
What environments and people made you feel most supported, seen, and at ease this year?
There is no specific result or outcome you’re going for here. The act of reflection is enough. Because reflection leads to awareness. And awareness is what gives you the opportunity to make more aligned choices in life.
